Have you ever wished you could leave your past behind? Have you ever come into a new season and felt like a new person?
Jesse and I remember when God changed our ministry name. We had both been feeling it in our spirits for a while, and when we both came together with our suggestions, we found that God had given each of us the exact same name!
But one night, doubt began to come. I was laying in bed one night, praying and asking God.. “Is this just us? Or do you really want us to change the name of our ministry? Is this really you, God?” Soon I drifted off to sleep, and God gave me a dream. In the dream, I saw a car. On the license plate of the car, it read, “Isaiah62.”
When I awoke from the dream, I immediately looked up the verse. When I reached the second verse, it read,
“..you will be called by a new name
that the mouth of the Lord will bestow.”
I couldn’t believe it. I knew that the Lord had answered my prayer, and that he had indeed wanted us to obey him and change the name of the ministry.
As I read further, I realized the entire chapter was about the kingdom of God being established! Which was the mandate God had given us.
"I have posted watchmen on your walls, Jerusalem;
they will never be silent day or night.
You who call on the Lord,
give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest
till he establishes Jerusalem
and makes her the praise of the earth”
"Pass through, pass through the gates!
Prepare the way for the people.
Build up, build up the highway!
Remove the stones.
Raise a banner for the nations.”
I knew that God was giving us a new mandate, meant for a new season. He wanted us to tirelessly establish his kingdom, and raise a banner for the nations; he wanted us to build up the highway and prepare a way for the floods of souls to enter the kingdom of God!
God changed Sarai’s name (my princess) to Sarah (mother of nations).
He also changed Abram’s name (high father) to Abraham (father of multitudes).
He changed Saul to Paul! He changed Simon to Peter, meaning a rock! Jesus said, “upon this rock, I will build my church.” He gave them new names for the next phase of their callings! He called them by the identity that He had assigned to them. With this new name, came a fresh anointing, a new boldness, and a greater assignment!
What name will God assign to you for your high calling? Remember, God never desires for you to be tied down to a past that doesn’t represent who you are in God. I prophesy that God is re-naming many in the body of Christ in this season! You are ready to receive a new assignment. Get ready to be elevated to new stature in Christ!
